Wholly Cow ! The Green Drakes are poppin on the Big Wood River

Well, with lower flows (about 750 cfs and still falling today) and warm weather the Green Drakes are hatching in good numbers and the trout are all over it. After a day out yesterday, I realized that the hatch is a little later in the day that previous years, starting about 1:00 pm, it lasted a couple of good hours. I found pods of fish working on emergers and adults eagerly. Landed a couple of very large fish ( 16 to 18″ big for the Big Wood ) and many others. What a heart pounding session that was. Call of txt me and lets get you out there ASAP.. BY the way the PMDs were also hatching during the Drake hatch, be aware of that, and select flies accordingly. Perhaps a PMD dropper or tandem dries…..

Tight lines, Brad
